December was a busy month for our program. The classrooms kept busy preparing for the Christmas season by making special gifts for their families and helping to decorate our classrooms. Our dramatic play centers included Santa’s workshop and a hot cocoa station for the children to explore. We built our own version of a gingerbread house, worked on patterning with candy canes and learned the story of Jesus’ miraculous birth in Chapel. We celebrated with our family and friends at our Christmas program, sharing our special music and the Owl classroom reenacted the Christmas story.
We ended the month before Christmas break with Santa visits, where Santa visited each classroom and shared the story “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
Going into January, we will settle into the New Year by learning about winter and arctic animals. We will also continue with weekly Chapel with Pastor Jay and Vicar Jennifer. We will open enrollment for current families for the coming school year in early January and then opening registration to new families in mid- January. Open enrollment is always an exciting time for our program, it gives us an opportunity to meet new families and showcase why our program is unique and special. If you are interested in joining our preschool or child care family or have any questions about potential enrollment, please contact the director Kathryn Glorvick at preschool@oklutheran.org or 952-334-8200.
