Hello Oak Knoll!
Greetings during our busy Lenten season. It is hard to believe that Easter is less than 3 weeks away! I want to start today by welcoming our 24 new members. It was truly a joy to see so many new faces in the front of the church on March 16th. We are so excited to have you as a part of our community!
March was a busy month for the Congregational Council. On Saturday, March 15th, we participated in the Minneapolis Synod Tool Kit: Workshop for Congregational Leaders. It was a great morning of learning from and connecting with other council members and leaders, as well as synod staff. On March 19th, it was the council’s pleasure to serve soup supper.
At our council meeting on March 18th, we tackled several important topics. Vicar Jennifer shared her internship project which involves introducing a resolution to be voted on at the Annual Meeting of the Minneapolis Synod. She is proposing that all synod member congregations have a child safety plan. She has worked with community members and other churches to develop this resolution. Great job, Vicar Jennifer! The council also began discussions about developing procedures with regards to interacting with ICE should they request to enter our preschool, our childcare or our church. Both the child safety proposal and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement discussion are important efforts to create a safe environment for all in the Oak Knoll community.
Wishing you all a Happy Easter!
Warmly,
Marget Schmidtke, 2025 Congregational Council President
