In a continuing effort to keep the congregation informed on the issue of affordable housing, this month your Beacon Housing committee is sharing information about Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners in Plymouth and their annual Sleep Out to raise funds and provide assistance for low income families.
IOCP uses the donations from the Sleep Out for services that are categorized as crisis support, short-term support and long-term support. Crisis support involves providing emergency financial assistance for those at risk of losing their home. Short-term support involves IOCP extended rent and housing navigation services which has helped over 90% of participating households eliminate their risk of housing loss. Long -term support involves permanent support housing and neighborhood program teams helping families and individuals maintain housing stability. This can include helping clients move into one of IOCP and Outreach Development Corporation affordable townhomes/apartments in Plymouth, Wayzata or Media. Housing is an issue all over and affordable housing is even more of a challenge in many local communities. And it is often invisible.
