Pastor Jay grew up in New Brighton, MN and is a proud graduate of Irondale High School, class of 1986. He attended St. Olaf College and graduated with a B.A. in Biology in 1990. After working for three summers at Christikon Lutheran Bible Camp in the Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains of Montana, and 2 years working for Caremark Health Care, he enrolled at Luther Seminary in St. Paul MN, graduating in 1996. His first call was to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Billings, MT where he served from 1996-2000. He moved to Minneapolis to serve at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, where he served from 2000-2011. Pr. Jay is thrilled to be at Oak Knoll, and is amazed at the deep sense of God's gracious presence that is expressed through the community each Sunday and throughout the week.
Pastor Jay's family includes his wife Suzanne, and his sons Noah, and Samuel. In his spare time he enjoys MN sports, movies, reading, socializing, exercise, and travel.
One of his favorite passages is Isaiah 43:1 "But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. "
